For Amber Rhodes, finding the right man wasn’t a matter of constant dating until stumbling upon him.

Instead, it required developing a genuine relationship with Christ. After that, it was easy.

Entering that authentic relationship with the Lord, however, is the difficult part, said Rhodes, who recounts her own arduous journey in “Better Left Said: Diary of a Single Girl Turned Christian,” which was released this month.

“Every woman has been through heartbreak, sometimes with men who should have never made it past hello,” Rhodes said. “After being in so many dead end relationships, I finally listened to God, healed completely from my past, and was able to move forward doing ministry then my husband came.”

Rhodes was ordained as a minister in April 2015. She married 11 months later. (Since divorced). “My heart’s desire was to write a book of my experiences in hopes young women would take the example of my life so they won’t have to go through the same thing,” Rhodes said.

These days, Rhodes regularly shares her advice on her popular blog Sincerely Amber (sincerelyamber.net). The book concentrates on her bad romances and offers advice on healing from them.

“There’s not enough transparency in the body of believers today, and so many people are lost because they think no one’s been in their shoes,” she said. “This book is a complete honest portrayal of myself in search for love and how I found the ultimate love through Jesus Christ.”

Owner of Allure Charm Events, LLC, an event and travel planning company, Rhodes received a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Savannah State University. “Better Left Said” is her first book.
