And in doing good, let us not fail..
And let us not be weary in well-doing..
So let us not become tired of doing good..
And let us not get tired of doing what is right..
Don’t lose your enthusiasm for behaving properly..
So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good..
And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right..
Anyone need an off day of living right and holy?
If I can ask God, for just one day can not living righteously not count against me?
To be honest, I get tired of doing the right thing. I really do! If I can just tell someone off, or get mad and connive a scheme to hurt someone, or treat people how they treat me from time to time.. that would be my fix.
I get hurt. I get punched. I get hit. It makes me mad when genuine efforts often go unnoticed, when my labor seems to not produce any fruit and when my kindness is treated as a weakness. It’s so discouraging that as I live my life for the Lord, the Bible only instructs me on how to live holy and do what’s right.
So what if someone isn’t living by these instructions themselves?
Well, while the Bible is open to everyone who will read, hear and take to heart it’s teachings – it only instructs the reader, and not the non-reader. The reader has the tools to:
Live a holy life
To do what’s right despite difficulty
Wisdom on how to move forward with difficult situation and people
So if someone treats you unrighteously you considered friend, Proverbs 22: 24-25 instructs do not make friends with a hot tempered person. Do not associate with one easily angered or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared.
So, as the bible teaches us to keep doing good, it also teaches us how to manage our lives better so that living righteously won’t be so difficult.
This is why I don’t give up in doing good. Many times I have quit, but failed at quitting because the Word of God is rooted so deep in me that quitting is never a permanent option. When I want to tell someone about themselves, I am always reminded that to not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. When I want to hurt someone who hurts me I’m always reminded to do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Why I am reminded? Because the Word of God is truly living in me. If it wasn’t, it’ll be most easy to hurt those who hurt me.
As I’m reminded to continue to do good, I was gifted with a un-expected basked of goodies to show that the work I do doesn’t go unnoticed. That despite having difficult days and days I feel I am not making a difference, God puts little reminders on my journey to say Oh Yes you are!
