The Blue Ribbon | Child Abuse & Neglect

“…Christ sacrificed His life for us. This is why we ought to live sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just be out for ourselves. If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God’s love? It disappears.” MSG 1 John 3:16-17

Many of you know that I have a heart for the mistreatment and neglect of children.  I have to be better at awareness, but I am a donor every year to aid in the awareness & prevention, to also aid in the assistance for the victims. We may not realize it, but we walk among them every day. Them, I mean adults, who neglect and/or abuse their children. Who chain them in basements or lock them in closets, who beat them daily, who don’t give them food as punishment, who rape their 2 year olds, who molest their sons, who prostitute their daughters. We cannot forget the tragic death of precious Emani Moss, who was set ablaze by her own two parents. Yes, we walk among them in the grocery store. The workplace. The park. The car wash. The movies. The restaurant. Yes, even in churches.

Let us not be ignorant to the fact that this goes on daily, not when we see a case on the news. I hope that we continue to open our eyes for the sake of a child. Especially teachers and day care workers. We are in a world where we ‘tend to our own business’ and we don’t want to get involved with other peoples affairs. I get it. We say that doesn’t pertain to me and my household. Yes. But on the other side of that selfishness, there could be a life saved. On the other side of that call or report it could be a breaking point for that child. Instead of watching the news saying to our safe children It’s a shame what happened we can say yes, another life was saved! Some child’s only voice is us.

For starters, we have to always be in constant prayer for those children who are suffering behind the scenes. Prayer for their little faith, that someone is praying for them. Prayer that they will be set free from bondage. Prayer for the parents and soon to be parents, that they don’t fail what God has blessed them with. Yes, this can be our first step. To also take action… if you are not around kids every day or don’t interact with children or babies daily, donate to the mission to help bring awareness and prevention. Local DFCS are in need of more workers to help push papers and get these cases reported. They need more people to go out and investigate. So many young lives slip through the cracks because DFCS are not properly staffed (and train).

Our future generation need our help with their voiceless lives. We have to make that happen for them.
